Underneath It All- The alternative to deodorant

Yes, I agree that smelling like lemons or flowers for a full day is a bonus.  Avoidance of sweat stains and musty b.o. is even further up on my list.

The dilemma we run into when trying to maintain that fresh smell, is we quickly reach for the deodorants that are easy to find and low in price.
They are however packed with all sorts of chemicals our brain can't even begin to pronounce or fathom what the ingredients possibly consist off.
Well, I'm writing this post to offer you "simpler" solutions to your "smell good, feel good, chemically packed deodorant fix."  In the long run, you could be saving your life, or just maybe preventing a horrid cancer from settling in your body.  Read on for fast action remedies to sweat and odor.

Keep in mind that you'll need to allow time for your body to adjust to these alternatives.  Also, if you have serious body odor, consider the foods that you're eating.   The foods that we eat come through our sweat glands and can often contribute to foul smelling sweat, among other things.

These are four options that we have tried in our household,  and have been successful!

1.  Baking soda, arrowroot powder, or cornstarch- mix either one with a little water and apply to the underarms.

2.  Lemon juice-  rub lemon juice or a lemon slice along the underarm pit.   Please avoid lemon after shaving- will burn

3.  Coconut oil- yes, straight out of the jar.  Of course let settle in the skin before putting clothes on to avoid oil residue.

4.  Witch Hazel - rub the liquid along the pits

See link below that show more alternatives.  It also shows the steps to make a batch of deodorant from scratch (easy with all natural ingredients).  Create your own scents and cater the product to your needs.

Introducing the Kiwi

So, the kiwi originated in China, but is now grown in the US, in addition to a few select countries.  Here in America, the kiwi is pretty easy to find, and also reasonable in price.  Believe it or not, this sweet fruit is jammed pack with vitamin C - even more than that of an orange!  Also contains vitamin E, low in fat, and no cholesterol The two main claims floating around about the kiwi: 1. It's a natural energy booster! 2. It can effectively reduce asthma symptoms, and respiratory problems in general. It reduces heart problems and increases lung function. It has been suggested that a child suffering with asthma conditions can eat one to five kiwis weekly to reduce symptoms. I have personally embraced the kiwi because of the taste, plus it's a convenient snack.  But, now my love for the kiwi has been placed on a higher level.  Okay, that's a little extreme!  But seriously,  it's a fruit to consider trying, and if possible,  introduc...

Kelp Powder - Mineral Hair Treatment

View my sea kelp natural hair treatment I tried over the weekend.  It is a simple process that offers great results- shine and additional minerals that are great for the hair.  My concoction included kelp powder, aloe vera juice, and oils.  I decided to use coconut and red palm oil in my mixture, but feel free to use whatever oils work well with your hair- almond, apricot, etc.  Leave the mixture on for 2 to 4 hours.  It's easy to wash out, and the smell is minimal.  The first pic of my hair shows my texture prior to the treatment.  View the sheen and length after treatment.  This is a completely natural home remedy.  Care to learn more about kelp and how it supports hair growth, and the overall body-depending on how you use it.   Check out the link from Herb Wisdom for additional info.   http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-kelp.html

Self Care- Make it a Habit

Self care habits in progress. I feel so good when I take time out to treat myself. It pleases me  even more when the practice is inexpensive. Polishing my nails, at-home facial, or sometimes a lengthy shower or bath.  It's extremely important to make time for yourself. I know we hear this often, but self care really promotes mental and physical health. If you're having a rough day, challenging week, or simply feeling  overwhelmed or unenthusiastic about circumstances, I strongly urge you to make time for yourself. I find that I am able to think clearer, and my stress levels are reduced significantly after I practice self care.  Sharing a few self care pics below; at home facial, read book alone in the car, or outside in the sun, make a fun (favorite drink) to enjoy alone, or try an at home mani/pedicure. I also find drawing and painting extremely relaxing. Perhaps you can take a walk or get your heart pumping by exercising. Try slower movements with yoga or pilates....
