Fashion Meets Simplicity

Dive into summer, full speed ahead!  Shake up your summer style and routines with these simple updates for your wardrobe and body!

Work of Art:  Art inspired tops with graphics or cool prints paired with denim bottoms

Raise The Bar:  Highwaisted anything; skirts, slacks, jeans, shorts (bonus- panties and swimsuit bottoms)

Neon Neo:  Turn up the volume! apparel and makeup- the louder the better (bonus running shoes if you're a runner or walker)

Patient Pastel:   Get in touch with your softer side and turn down the color by trying the pastel family.  Keep it light and flowy with soft colors (bonus - shear fabrics and nail polish in pastel)

Red, White, and Blue:
Red shoes- sandals, flats, and pumps
White watch-perfect for every summer
Denim-top, skirts, and shorts

Stripes, Stars, Polka Dots:   Play up your feminine side and try these prints on your tops, skirts, and summer dresses

Mini and Maxi:  Go to the extreme when deciding on a length for your skirts and dresses.  Try floor length or super short.  (bonus- hot shorts)

Colors Decoded: Try using a single color head to toe but with different shades and fabrics (nude, white, green, etc).  You can also try this with makeup too.  Apply the same color on your eyes, cheeks, and lips.

Be Bold:  As a bonus look on using color, instead of using the monochromatic theme, go for bold and mix solid bright colors; blue top with red shorts!

Ice Cold:  Stay cool in warm weather- switch out your daily cup of hot green tea, for tea on ice.  Bonus, try Panera's take on Iced Green Tea.  It tastes great, offers just enough sweetness, and cools you down in 90 degree temps.

Stay fresh and be green:  Try a natural deodorant, Herbal Clear- aloe fresh with vitamins A and E.  Please note that you will need to apply 6-8 swipes for deodorant to properly work.

Cure your Toes:  Prep your feet for summer and sandals by soaking them in a bowl of warm milk for fifeteen minutes.  The acid from the milk softens the skin.  Epsom salt is another natural remedy- let feet soak for ten minutes in a bowl with warm water and Epsom Salt.   While feet are wet, use a wooden foot file or pumice stone to smooth and remove dead skin.  To soften and protect feet, moisturize with a natural foot lotion.  Lock everything in by wearing a pair of white socks overnight.

Hope these tips and recommendations get you off to a cool and brilliant summer.

Introducing the Kiwi

So, the kiwi originated in China, but is now grown in the US, in addition to a few select countries.  Here in America, the kiwi is pretty easy to find, and also reasonable in price.  Believe it or not, this sweet fruit is jammed pack with vitamin C - even more than that of an orange!  Also contains vitamin E, low in fat, and no cholesterol The two main claims floating around about the kiwi: 1. It's a natural energy booster! 2. It can effectively reduce asthma symptoms, and respiratory problems in general. It reduces heart problems and increases lung function. It has been suggested that a child suffering with asthma conditions can eat one to five kiwis weekly to reduce symptoms. I have personally embraced the kiwi because of the taste, plus it's a convenient snack.  But, now my love for the kiwi has been placed on a higher level.  Okay, that's a little extreme!  But seriously,  it's a fruit to consider trying, and if possible,  introduc...

Kelp Powder - Mineral Hair Treatment

View my sea kelp natural hair treatment I tried over the weekend.  It is a simple process that offers great results- shine and additional minerals that are great for the hair.  My concoction included kelp powder, aloe vera juice, and oils.  I decided to use coconut and red palm oil in my mixture, but feel free to use whatever oils work well with your hair- almond, apricot, etc.  Leave the mixture on for 2 to 4 hours.  It's easy to wash out, and the smell is minimal.  The first pic of my hair shows my texture prior to the treatment.  View the sheen and length after treatment.  This is a completely natural home remedy.  Care to learn more about kelp and how it supports hair growth, and the overall body-depending on how you use it.   Check out the link from Herb Wisdom for additional info.   http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-kelp.html

Self Care- Make it a Habit

Self care habits in progress. I feel so good when I take time out to treat myself. It pleases me  even more when the practice is inexpensive. Polishing my nails, at-home facial, or sometimes a lengthy shower or bath.  It's extremely important to make time for yourself. I know we hear this often, but self care really promotes mental and physical health. If you're having a rough day, challenging week, or simply feeling  overwhelmed or unenthusiastic about circumstances, I strongly urge you to make time for yourself. I find that I am able to think clearer, and my stress levels are reduced significantly after I practice self care.  Sharing a few self care pics below; at home facial, read book alone in the car, or outside in the sun, make a fun (favorite drink) to enjoy alone, or try an at home mani/pedicure. I also find drawing and painting extremely relaxing. Perhaps you can take a walk or get your heart pumping by exercising. Try slower movements with yoga or pilates....
