Nature Nurture

It's simply amazing how many uses we can find from items that are straight from nature; harmless to the environment and safe for you!

Crisco, for example, is natural, actually made of soybeans.  If you are running low on lotion or in need of a double duty moisturizer, try rubbing Crisco on your body.  And yes, I mean straight from the can.  If the smell reminds you too much of 'Crisco,' then add an essential oil of your choice or perhaps a bit of honey.

I have falling in love with Cinnamon, Honey, and Baking Soda, and I choose to keep all three stocked in my house at all times.  These three powerful, but totally natural items are multitasking  miracle workers on so many levels.

Natural Health Remedies:
Cinnamon and honey can help soothe a toothache and calm an upset stomach.  I found a link listing some of the many health issues cinnamon and honey can treat.

Natural Beauty Remedies:
Baking soda is so safe, you can eat it straight from the box.   Use Baking soda to exfoliate the face, brush teeth, or soothe irritated skin.  View the link I have attached, showing several uses for baking soda.

Introducing the Kiwi

So, the kiwi originated in China, but is now grown in the US, in addition to a few select countries.  Here in America, the kiwi is pretty easy to find, and also reasonable in price.  Believe it or not, this sweet fruit is jammed pack with vitamin C - even more than that of an orange!  Also contains vitamin E, low in fat, and no cholesterol The two main claims floating around about the kiwi: 1. It's a natural energy booster! 2. It can effectively reduce asthma symptoms, and respiratory problems in general. It reduces heart problems and increases lung function. It has been suggested that a child suffering with asthma conditions can eat one to five kiwis weekly to reduce symptoms. I have personally embraced the kiwi because of the taste, plus it's a convenient snack.  But, now my love for the kiwi has been placed on a higher level.  Okay, that's a little extreme!  But seriously,  it's a fruit to consider trying, and if possible,  introduc...

Self Care- Make it a Habit

Self care habits in progress. I feel so good when I take time out to treat myself. It pleases me  even more when the practice is inexpensive. Polishing my nails, at-home facial, or sometimes a lengthy shower or bath.  It's extremely important to make time for yourself. I know we hear this often, but self care really promotes mental and physical health. If you're having a rough day, challenging week, or simply feeling  overwhelmed or unenthusiastic about circumstances, I strongly urge you to make time for yourself. I find that I am able to think clearer, and my stress levels are reduced significantly after I practice self care.  Sharing a few self care pics below; at home facial, read book alone in the car, or outside in the sun, make a fun (favorite drink) to enjoy alone, or try an at home mani/pedicure. I also find drawing and painting extremely relaxing. Perhaps you can take a walk or get your heart pumping by exercising. Try slower movements with yoga or pilates....

Zinc

Boost your immune system, and start repairing your body internally with zinc.  My (functional medicine) doctor recommended that I incorporate zinc into my diet, by taking a daily supplement, but preferably considering zinc in my food choices.  It was explained that zinc could assist with reversing some of the internal damage of my stomach.  For most of my life, I've been consuming gluten, probably daily, never realizing that it was wreaking havoc on my intestines. In the beginning, I mainly suffered from constipation.   As I got older, bloating and stomach discomfort became a daily thing, along with the constipation.  My stomach issues became my life, and began controlling my life, and even my wardrobe.  Yes, my scarf collection, and flowy tops expanded.   Keeping a scarf on hand daily, in case I needed a cover up for my distended belly.   Then came the hiatal hernia and belching, after almost every meal, and I'd sometimes e...
